DESCRIPTION:A small addition has been made on the RDFa distiller service (
pyRdfa) : there is now a possibility to upload an XHTML file to be distille
d\, beyond referring to a URI or copying a text to a text box. This feature
has been asked for by several users. Both the upload and the text box alte
rnatives use POST\, whereas distilling via URI-s uses GET. (Note that the t
ext box version used GET before\, which was really not the right way to go.
..) Just as for all new services bugs may have been overlooked\; contact

DESCRIPTION:The W3C SPARQL Working Group has published a First Public Worki
ng Draft of SPARQL 1.1 Property Paths \, which defines a more succinct way
to write parts of basic graph patterns and also extend matching of triple p
attern to arbitrary length paths. The group also published six updates\, na
mely: SPARQL 1.1 Query adds support for aggregates\, subqueries\, projected
expressions\, and negation to the SPARQL query language. SPARQL 1.1 Update
defines an update language for RDF graphs. SPARQL 1.1 Protocol for RDF def
ines an abstract interface and HTTP bindings for a protocol to issue SPARQL
Query and SPARQL Update statements against ...

DESCRIPTION:Benjamin Nowack\, creator of ARC and Trice \, wrote an interest
ing blog post about the place of Microformats and RDFa in the HTML 5 specif
ication . I am not deep into the specification itself\, and so may lack som
e history context. However\, the most interesting point in this article is
not related to Microformats\, RDFx or the new HTML 5 specification. The poi
nt is that apparently\, some people believe that it is RDF or nothing. This
is not new\, but is that true? People (and particularly enterprises) want
the benefits of structured data\, not necessarily RDF. In fact\, many peopl

DESCRIPTION:There's been a whole lot of discussion around Microdata \, a ne
w approach for embedding machine-readable information into forthcoming HTML
 5. What I find most attractive about Microdata is the fact that it was desi
gned by HTMLers\, not RDFers. It's refreshingly pragmatic\, free of other R
DF spec legacy\, but still capable of expressing most of RDF. Unfortunately
\, RDFa lobbyists on the HTML WG mailing list forced the spec out of HTML5
core for the time being. This manoeuver was understandable (a lot of energy
went into RDFa\, after all)\, but in my opinion very short-sighted. How ma
ny uphill battles did we ...
